Your friendly neighborhood Live at Trackside crew made their way into the depths of the Keith Albee Theater in Huntington to capitalize on an opportunity to film the Spirit Family Reunion before their performance on Mountain Stage that evening. We stalked them after a lunch break to the local record store Now Hear This—thoroughly embarrassed that these fine people were subjected to the world’s shittiest collection of vinyl with the world’s highest prices— and asked percussionist Peter Pezzimenti if they’d be willing to let us film them. Luckily, they agreed. And now you get to enjoy the fruits of this stalking adventure.

Tim Lancaster and friends traveled to the fair city of Huntington to record his second album and we happened to capture a take in the making. Please, friends, watch as Tim sings about some fair headed maiden up North or down South or somewhere in between as local ringers Bud Carroll and Jeremy Short fill in on bass and lead guitar respectively.

For the gear geeks on our embarrassingly short followers list, this was recorded entirely with analog equipment live to the tape machine and damn it if it doesn’t sound ok!

Every so often while playing a show in Huntington, West Virginia—if you’re lucky—there will be a very drunk man that, if your music so inspires him, will shout out the inspirational phrase “Shit AND Damn, son!”. I’d like to think that he would shout that out at his glowing laptop screen while laying in bed watching the latest Live at Trackside featuring Detroit’s The Muggs. Here we see them playing the explosively epic Sturm und Drang/Hats Off to Mr. Beardsly which are available on their equally epic and explosive album Born Ugly.
